When the Levee Breaks
With all the flooding of the last few days in Iowa and other midwest states, this song has been on my mind a lot. I’m sure most of my readers are familiar with the Led Zepplin cover which is probably the best known, but searching this morning for a YT vid to post, I found out that the song was originally written in 1929! here’s this from Wiki: “When the Levee Breaks” is a blues song written and first recorded by husband and wife Kansas Joe McCoy and Memphis Minnie in 1929. The song is in reaction to the upheaval caused by the Great Mississippi Flood of 1927. With that information I found this recording of the original..

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all affected by this terrible event.
Yes prayers are always needed , there are so many of these natural disasters happening thesedays , well I say natural but in one internet report I read that , the heavy rains fell on a landscape radically reengineered by humans.
well of course its happening all over the world now that the land is changing rapidly , here in Cyprus especially, I know we need progress in some areas but its unbelievable here where I am living and there is such a water shortage due to lack of rain into the dams and yet the devlopers are building just more and more houses hotels etc , which all in turn are putting extra demand on the water supply .
Here we are needing the water and there in Iowa they are suffering because of the excess, pray for both countries to get back to more favourable conditions.
