Getting Ready!

by admin on Nov.17, 2008, under Love

Parcel from Cyprus

Parcel from Cyprus

Another parcel arrived today from Cyprus. :) I get so excited when these come in. Its mostly her clothing she has been shipping ahead. There’s no cheap way to get her things here and though the post may not seem at first thought to be the cheapest way to send it,  it actually is the least expensive of any of the methods I have looked into.  This should be the last of them now I think. Alison has been shipping a box or two like this about once a week now for the last four or five weeks. It’s always the most wonderful feeling comes over me when I get one of these. Just having her things in the house now are making it feel more like she’s already here. With each one that comes in I get more excited and the reality of our day finally coming close is setting in on me big time! We’ve waited nearly three years now for this, and I swear this last month seems to be dragging on so very slowly. The day just cant come soon enough for us now. Actually in just 4 days now she will be leaving Cyprus and heading to the Uk for about a two week stopover to visit her family befroe she’s heading on to become Mrs. Garazon! :) Whooo hooo! its almost here! love you Mrs. G XXXX

Alison’s Leaving Party

by admin on Nov.16, 2008, under Meanderings

This past Saturday evening all the girls took Alison out for a night on the town as a leaving party. Alison will likely do a post or write something about it so I will just present a small slide show of some of the pictures

too bad we dont have any video from the karaoke sessions though, I have a feeling quite a few of the girls were feeling pretty good about that time of the evening ;)

I-129F APPROVED!!

by admin on Sep.01, 2008, under Love

It’s Official! Our petition for the fiancée visa was approved today!!!! YEA!!!!!! You cant imagine two more ecited or happier people than the two of us when we got the news :) Our lives are all filled with highs and lows and we mark our journey through life by them. I can in all honesty say I have never been overcome by such joyful emotion as I was when I first got the news. And the timing really was coming at a point that some good news was needed. We both have struggeled trying to keep from getting down about it taking so long and so many hoops to jump through to just simply be together and share a love sent from heaven, as well as the worry with my mom being in the hospital ICU in serious but stable condition.

Well I should start with getting the news. Both of us had signed up at the USCIS website to receive email updates about our case when any action was taken. Well there are only two instances of action in this particular petion, one is the receipt of it and the case pending, and the last one is the approval notice, we get NOTHING in between which only served to make us that more anxious waiting for word. Yesterday (I’m editing this a day after I made the post) was a busy day for both of us, with me working and then planning to go to the hospital after, and Alison at the time entertaining a friend for dinner at her house. With all the things going on with mom I have been keeping up with the family and friends by email a lot and have been in a habit of checking it on my phone a lot here lately. Well something told me to check it yesterday, one of those feeligs we get, and to be truthful I just thought it was someone wanting to know about mom or something like that. Well I knew alison was busy , but she still sends some kisses right often too :)

Anyway being in the state I was I was sort of in one of those worried states and when i saw the name “CRIS” whch i recognized from signing up at the USCIS site, my heart just seemed to stop and turn

180 degrees around! I never have felt so much jubilation as when I saw that notice! I stopped right then and sent Alison a text (I started to cal her but her cell has been going south for a while now and the battery goes very fast on voice calls unless she is plugged into the charger. Here’s the text I did send, excuse the French ;)Text i sent to sent to Alison to tell her the news

Those few minutes of texting and then her trying to call and speak were like something I hvae never experienced before, both of us jumping up and down likely and telling everyyone who would listen! well everyone knows how badly we wanted this day to come, andnow its here and soon when she is called to go to the embassy there, she will have her visa to come! :) We will have our Christmas together this year! :-)

You know its seemed like an eternity waiting for this thing to be approved, and looking back now its was just 3 months, well i say just… to us it seeemd so much longer. From what i have seen though the average waitign time now is close to 10 to 13 months and I was so down we wpuld end up seeing another year go by, but somehow God and our angels pulled off another one and made us even happier than we have been :)  But its nothing will compare to that day she gets off the plane here and I hold her in my arms and knowing its for good! Love you baby! XXX

Amazing Landscape Photos

by admin on Aug.05, 2008, under Meanderings

Top 10 | Landscape photos | landscapes with a soul. I was just surfing randomly around the web as I often do, going from a link on one site to another one and then another until I am so far removed form the orginal site i dont even remember how I got there. Anyway I stumbled upon this site tonight and saw some of the most amzing landscape photos from around the world. It seems a collaboration of sorts by hundreds of photographers, and i havent seen a single one yet that I can’t call breathtaking. Amazing pictures. There are some related sites indirectly linked to this one, one of animal photography, another of glamour shots, and then portraits, all equally as hypnotizing to view. Enjoy

Summer petunias

A sort of unique colour of petunias on the deck. Mom’s taken a lot of care with the flowers, especially with the heat this summer.

One more time

by admin on Aug.01, 2008, under Site News, Tech

Well I had to lose the other theme as I finally found some of those incompatibilty issues with WordPress 2.6  I was worried aboutafter making the sidebar useable.  Mainly the gallery functions were not working, it would load the gallery images in the post, but no support for the individual image pages themselves, and I really can’t do without them. But I still was able to retain the image header that I so dearly love :) And I still have a very clean looking theme as well, and very well maintained in regards to WordPress upgrades by the designer Sadish Bala on his site WordPress Rocks. He has a number of very well desgined WP themes available for free and a very nice selection of premium themes as well. I am tempted to see if he can take on the job of getting the old theme up to date as it was just so eye pleasing to me, not that this one isn’t though! It’s called MistyLook, and I actually use it on my WordPress as well.  Its solid and very clean and works very well. I should just stay with his designs as they are some of the best out there and I wont have to worry with hacking all these other ones to just get them to function, just dont have the time for it.  well off now to change the feedjit codes and some of the ad codes to match the site… again :( I’m not changing this anymore… for a while ;)  LOL

Power outage in Currituck

by admin on Jul.29, 2008, under Meanderings, Mobile

A widepread power outage has occurred in Currituck County this evening. I’m assuming it was caused by a severe thunderstorm that passed through the middle and upper parts of the county. I reported it to Dominion Power and just informed it was a widespread outage and should be ban by 8:30 PM. it went off around 6:30 PM. Wouldn’t be so bad if it wasn’t so freaking hot! We didn’t get any of the actual storm here except a few drops of rain. Lot of thunder in the distance though. Must have been a right good amount of damage to cause it widespread like this. I did speak to a friend who lives in the lower part of the county, in Harbinger, as he was coming over to play chess tonight. He reports they still have power there. Glad I have this iPhone and the WordPress app! But unfortunately I was playing a game on it and the battery is low :-( oh well. I will save what’s left to mail my baby tonight ;) just in case

Safari browser on iPhone

by admin on Jul.25, 2008, under Mobile, Tech

photo

I’ve just been playing with this new WordPress app on my phone and thought I’d add some screen shots of the Safari web browser on the phone. It’s a great browser actually with exception of it not having the best ‘flash’ support and rarely do embedded flash objects render anything other than that little blue icon occupying the space. One of the things in this latest software update was the ability to grab screen caps very easily, holding the power button and home button down simultaneously for a couple of seconds and releasing them will capture the screen image to your photo library on the phone. Sweet!

The first image is the site as it appears when a page is loaded.(unless the photos appear in reverse order from the way I added them, another test…)

however a quick double tap in a certain area will bring the view closer as in the middle picture. Also the zoom can be accomplished by using two fingers pn tne touch screen and spreading them apart over the area.

Here you can see it’s very easy to read the post itself or any area in the page.

Just amazed me to see these sort of abilities when I think it hasn’t been that many years ago I first used Internet Explorer 3 on my PC! Wonder what’s coming in a year or two?!!

Note - posted edited online later as images are only posted inline from the web app at present.
