We were shopping the other day at Ross Dept store in Norfolk and passed down one of the aisles where they have those various figurines. This caught our eye and we couldn’t resist taking a pic :)  Not meaning to be sacriligious, just found it funny… Pictures speak louder than words, so here it is, Merry Christmas from Jesus and friends ;)

Water storage in preparation

 Seriously though we are getting prepared, beginning to clear the yard and deck, storing water for the inevitable power outage that usually follows these things. I’ve learned from experience that having PLENTY of water on hand is the most important thing, After Isabel we had 8 days with no power, temps in the high 90′s and unberable high humidity. Believe me it was wonderful to be able to even wash up in a basin of water during those days, not to mention having a “flush” supply on hand! That year I did the normal “filling the bathtub” before the storm which I had never done and it was the best decision i made. But we cut it very close as the last day of no power we were down to the bottom of the tub! So this time in addition to the tub we have filled a few plastic totes with water in preparation. We’ve got about 50 gallons on hand so far and will fill some more tomorrow. I expect tomorrow will find evacuation orders issued for all the beach areas and probably Currituck as well, at least the Outer Banks portion of the county. We will monitor the track and strength and decide tomorrow if we are going to stay. As it stands now we will stay and hunker down. As is ususal today was a clear beautiful day, calm and hot. Fun but cold!!

Yet another case against teaching children to spell it like like it sounds (hooked on phonics). This was at a local dollar store nearby. If only 3 screws are missing missen , then its probably a good deal! ;)

We had a lovely dinner at BJ’s restaurant in Jarvisburg. Mom bought us dinner and had made arrnagements to have the table decorsted with flowers and gifts and we were joined for dinner by Tracey, Megan and Grace and Phil and his wife Kathy. afterwards it was a stop by tracey’s house where she and the kids had made a cake and more flowers and presents. Just a wonderful evening we had. Happy Birthday Mrs G! I love you! xxx

This was a pretty cool site with quite a few face cut out templates to insert your own photos. I should have spent a bit of time looking for a photo that matches the skin tones of the original photo a little better, looks like we were buried in sand up to our neck out in the Sahara or somewhere! I’m not used to seeing myself appearing to have any colour to me! Pasty white is my normal shade I think ;)

9 days to go and I just can’t wait! :) my heart hasn’t stopped racing since the day she booked the flight! Well truthfully it hasn’t stopped racing since that morning i woke and read that message from her on Mingle! And each day now brings us nearer to our special day and the excitement just builds more and more. Once again today we had a chance for a quick skype and I got to see my baby once again :) Shes just back in from another outing, this time to WalMart! yes they have one there too, operating as an ASDA – WalMart Supercentre!

So here’s my super shopping Brit standing outside the afore mentioned WalMart. Quite a different look than hte super centers here, but none the less theres the familiar WalMart logo. my guess is pretty soon that star in the middle will be replaced with a world globe ;) Well all of this is just another example of how all this technology helps to keep us close by sharing the days events with each other.

Well i havent had so much to send her these last few days though, trying to get over a bad cold or maybe the flu and I’ve kept inside mostly. I did send her a pic of me after getting rid of some of my grey hair this morning! shhhh! LOL well I dont think I’m so vain really but I do hate having a head full of grey hair and looking so old. I’m not about to give in to it yet, but when the time comes i will go gracefully but until I can afford that “Just for Men” I will keep using it! ;) I dont have a before and after pic so i will just post the after one…

Now just to get the beard to match! lol well thats another day. Have to do these things gradually or i will look in the mirror and not recognize myself! Well anyway this is image Alison sees from my webcam during our video chats. I still think i have the better view of seeing her ;) Its wonderful these video calls, only it just makes me want to stop and look at her than to speak! As much as i love this I cant wait to give it all up and have her face to face though. Its been a long three years almost and if you think about it it has hardly been a months time we have actually been together in the same place! ?But we still have managed so very to stay close and connected several times a day without fail. Maybe the very rare occassion one of us was too ill or unable to use a pc or cell, but even those days we at least managed once to speak somehow if it wasnt more than a text.

I guess this post is more a ramble than anything else, just trying to pass the time until these days are passed anf we are where we were destined to be, at each others side :) love you baby xxxx

This picture was among some of the things in the parcel I got today, I always liked this picture of Alison. I look at the key she’s holding and always think how now she holds the key to my heart :)

This past Saturday evening all the girls took Alison out for a night on the town as a leaving party. Alison will likely do a post or write something about it so I will just present a small slide show of some of the pictures

too bad we dont have any video from the karaoke sessions though, I have a feeling quite a few of the girls were feeling pretty good about that time of the evening ;)
